Billie Joe Armstrong to be a mentor on 'The Voice'

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong is the latest music star to sign on as a mentor with NBC's The Voice.

The announcement that Armstrong will tutor for Team Christina Aguilera came late Thursday. He said he and his family are fans of the show, which returns for its third season on September 10th. He likes The Voice because "it's not molding artists, it's just giving them a little bit of guidance and direction without giving them a complete makeover."

Armstrong is the second rocker to join the show as a mentor in the past couple of days. Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas was introduced as Cee-Lo Green right hand man on Wednesday.
